It is Tuesday, late afternoon… the north wind is blowing and, on the news, they are calling for a storm watch! YES!… Believe it or not, we are supposed to get 20 cm of snow overnight and tomorrow!!! No kidding!… And our snowblowing contracts will be in effect November 1st… Great!!! Of course, this first snow will not stay on the ground since temperature will be 17 degrees celsius by Friday… Quel pays!
Just in case some of you would decide to stay home tomorrow, here is another little quiz of mine. This time, I did not target any specific rules. All you will have to do is choosing the right words… as usual, there are a couple of traps in this text. Yet I know you will be careful not to fall into them!… I took the test and I got 50/50… Was it easy? I could not really say… I perhaps hesitated on two sets of choices, but not for long! I made up my mind quite fast! And so should you… Do not be shy to share your results and questions with us once you will be done!
Here is a nice cup of hot chocolate to help you go through this first snow storm!
Now that you feel warm and cosy, click here to take the quiz!
And if you live somewhere between Ottawa and Montréal…
Bonne neige en octobre!!!

Woo-hoo! 45/50 I just missed the “bel” . . . I know you use it before a masculine noun w/vowel, but I thought it was only for pronunciation when immediately preceding the noun. Oh well. I’m happy with my score
Bravo Diane! It’s quite impressive!
I hesitated on “bel” as well for a minute there… then I remembered the expression “bel et bien”, bingo!
It had been a while since you had taken one of my tests! You should do it more often… Yes, there are traps but they’re also very informative. I like the fact they give exhaustive explanations when people make mistakes… I really appreciate the OQLF‘s site for that!
It’s snowing hard in Ottawa right now but it has not started here yet (I’m in Kanata… probably 28 km west from downtown… and the bull’s eye of the storm will be concentrated more east)… tomorrow, driving will be fun!
À bientôt!
It’s too early for snow
We might get a few flakes here. Actually put the kids in hats & mittens today. We’ll have to bundle up for Halloween!
Well Diane… it started to snow hard here! And it’s blowing!… Yikes! On Halloween day though, the forecast is 17 degrees celsius… but make sure your little ones will be warm, just in case the weather man would be wrong!
Hopefully the white blanket will melt, I’m not ready for this yet!
Merci!
Dave
Salut Dave!
