Le complément de nom… souvent un casse-tête!

I went through another hectic week… Kate had her oral interaction test on Tuesday (we are still waiting for her results)… Edna took her reading comprehension test on the same day and she got her B missing the C by only three answers… she was supposed to take her written expression exam as well, but there were some technical bugs (I will explain more in my next post)… Yesterday she went for her oral interaction test: she said it was hard and she doubts she made it… well, let’s be positive here!… And if ever she missed the B, I am really proud of her achievement: given her little background in French, she came a long way in a very short period of time!

Congratulations Edna!

Yesterday I assessed Stefan’s oral skills… he is actually stronger than he thought… therefore there is hope that he will get his B when he will be tested (most likely towards the end of October)… he had managed to get a B in both reading comprehension and written expression a couple of weeks ago… since he had found me at the very last minute, I had not had time to work with him and he had only studied the worksheets I had provided him with!

Congratulations Stefan!

Wednesday I got a phone call from Candice who was panic stricken: she had just been notified that her oral interaction test would take place on September 15… Useless to say that we are both running a marathon this weekend! But… I am confident that she will get her B

That being said, here is my quizz of the day: sometimes it is difficult to decide whether a «complément de nom» has to be singular or plural… there are no specific rules and, most of the time, logic does not really help… the way we write them is rather ruled by usage and conventions… I might have hesitated on one or two yet I thought it was rather easy and I got a perfect mark… Let’s see how you will do!

Although Fall is just around the corner, it still feels like Summer!

Today it is 26 degrees, sunny wall-to-wall and dry… It is just perfect!… Hopefully, this weather will stay with us for some time… It is such a boost!!!

Enjoy the day and, later, click here to play my quizz…

Bonne chance!

Bonsoir! I haven’t taken one of your quizzes in awhile. I was pleasantly surprised to score 45/50! I missed un canard aux navets. What is that?

      Bonsoir Diane!

What a nice surprise to “see” you again! ;-) Very good score!… actually, a «canard au navets» is a duck with turnip and since I can’t stand the taste of turnip (too bitter for me!), I never tried it… Je préfère un canard à l’orange… though duck is a bit greasy…

      Bonne fin de semaine!

    Bonjour Lyne,

      Bonne semaine!

Don’t think I’ve ever even eaten a turnip. Still, I should have known that! Merci!

Il n’y a pas de quoi Diane! And… don’t even bother to eat a turnip because it isn’t worth the “pain”!!! ;-)
