A bit of a Challenging Test!

It is time for another test… Speaking of tests, Yong took his oral interaction test at 11:00 this morning and, believe it or not, Alicia is still waiting for her results after one week! What is going on lately?… It takes weeks before getting testing dates and results that used to be communicated in 72 hours do not come in before one week and even more. I do understand that, at this time of the year, people start going on vacation… but given the number of employees working at the PSC, I cannot believe that a couple of them away create such a backlog! Anyways, there is not much we can do… except wait…

The passé simple in French is a tense that no one uses in either writing or speaking. Yet we see it every time we read a novel… this narrative tense has been replaced with the passé composé a long time ago. If we do recognize verbs conjugated at the passé simple, many of us would probably have a hard time to write them…

I found a test on this tense and although it went well, I have to say that I hesitated on a couple (did it take a circumflex or not?)… I had to reflect seriously before making my choice and I finally ended up with a perfect score… but not before changing two of my answers after a second thought. I am glad I did! Let’s see how you will do!…

Another cold and rainy day… it looks more like the end of Fall!

Are we not close to June?…

At least on this picture, it is sunny! While waiting for Summer, click here to take the test…

Bonne chance!…

    Bonjour Lyne,

    J’ai eu 60/60 :)
Bizarrement j’ai trouvé ce test plutôt facile… Et je ne suis pas tombée dans les pièges, comme tu peux le constater (pour une fois !!).

Si tu viens un jour à Paris, j’aurai une bouteille de champagne au frais pour que nous fêtions ensemble nos bons scores ;)

    A bientôt,
    Isabelle

      Bonjour Isabelle,

Tu t’en es tirée avec brio! ;-) Évidemment ce test est moins difficile pour les francophones puisque nous lisons continuellement et tous les romans sont écrits en employant le passé simple dans la partie narrative.

Je pense que ce test est trop corsé pour les anglophones (c’est un temps de verbe qu’ils n’apprennent habituellement pas… ils ne le découvrent que lorsqu’ils commencent à lire des romans dans la langue de Molière)!

Et… je ne dis pas non au champagne! :-)

      À la prochaine,

      Lyne
